Germany's oldest Christmas market is Dresden's Striezelmarkt, It has a history which starts at 1434. The name Striezelmarkt comes the name of the sweet delicacy Hefestrieze, which is now known as Dresden Christstollen, or German christmas cake.
In addition to its Christmas tree decorated with lights its Pflaumentoffel (prune men) and the tallest Christmas Christmas pyramid in the world , there are traditional handicrafts: carved wooden decorations from the Erzgebirge mountains including pyramids, incense burners and decorative Christmas arches. You will also find blue printed articles and pottery , intricate handmade lace, handblown Christmas tree decorations, gingerbread and of course Dresden Christstollen. The Stollen Festival and the Pyramid Festival are not to be missed.
